Elder Williams began his message, “The Characteristics of the Law,” with Romans 10:4  “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” Elder Williams describes three basic purposes of the law:  1) to condemn,   2) to teach–Galatians 3:24, and   3) to give us direction/focus.  The law was a shadow of good things to come. (Hebrews 10:1)  Christ came to fulfill the law.

Elder Williams began his study in Hebrews 1: 1-4.  God spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets.   By studying the account of Elijah in I Kings 17: 1-12, we see God speaking promises of hope: election, the Holy Trinity, and resurrection.  Romans 15:4 “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”

“We are Precious in His Sight,” is the subject of Elder Lester’s afternoon message.  He begins in Isaiah 43: 1-5.  In verse 4, The LORD said, “Since thou wast precious in my sight”.  We are so precious to Him that we were not redeemed with corruptible things, “But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:” (I Peter 1:19)  We are, indeed, so precious to Him, “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven”  to come back for us  (I Thes 4:16).

Elder Tony Lester: Morning, Aug 23, 2015

Elder Lester begins his study, “Herein is Love,” in I John 4:10. God first loved us, and our love for Him is a “fruit of the Spirit.” (Gal 5:22)  An evidence of God’s love for His children is the fact that He will quicken them at sometime during their lives.  The greatest proof of God’s love is the gift of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.  Hebrews 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross…”  Herein is love!!

Brother Nathan Meeks: Aug 16, 2015

Brother Nathan studies the historical events of “David and Goliath,” as recorded in I Samuel, Chapter 17.  David had a cause, to stand for The Lord,  and demonstrated complete faith that The Lord would deliver him.  He expressed that faith to King Saul (vs 37), and to Goliath (before he slew him), saying, “…for the battle is the LORD’S,” (vs 47).  Jeremiah 32:17,  “Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:”.

Brother Nathan Meeks: August 9, 2015

Our flock lost a dear brother during this last week and Brother Meeks began in I Thes 4:13-18 with a message of encouragement, “Hope in Sorrow.”  There is, “A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;” (Ecc 3:4), but mourning should be done within normal bounds.  There IS hope in sorrow.  Genesis records that Isaac (35:29) and Jacob (49:33) were gathered unto their people when they died.  Verse 17 in the text verses promises: “…and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”  As we abide with The Lord, we shall be ever satisfied, “As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.”  Psalm 17:15
