Elder James Allen: Oct 25, 2015

Elder Allen speaks on the topic, “What is a sin unto death and a sin not unto death?”  The term “death” used in the text verses, I John 5: 16-17 refers to spiritual death/ a loss of fellowship with The Lord while still in this world.   In Jeremiah 7: 3-16 we learn that God will not hear prayers for His children who are in a state of perpetual rebellion (“a sin unto death”).  God tells us in Isaiah 30: 8-15 that rebellious children want to hear only “smooth” things.  In Hebrews 6: 1-6 we learn that it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, but have fallen away, to be renewed unto repentance.

In the second portion of the message, we learn that we can admonish a child of God who is guilty of a “sin not unto death”.  James 5:20  says we can “save a soul from death.”  (While we cannot lose our eternal salvation, it is possible for us to lose the “joy of our salvation”.)  In Romans 15:14, Paul said he was persuaded that those in the church are able to admonish one another.  Love your brother enough to admonish/talk with him about his sin in a tender manner.  Galatians 6:2  “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”

Brother Nathan Meeks: Oct 18, 2015

Proverbs 29:18 is the text verse for Brother Nathan’s message on “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”  Today’s “vision” refers to prophecy or preaching, which is based on the prophecies of old.  Without preaching, God’s people may perish while here on earth because they have no unity, no direction, no comfort, and no hope.   God’s children can be blessed to have the perspective that the best days are yet to come!

Brother Nathan Meeks: Oct 4, 2015

Brother Nathan explores the question, “What does it mean to be a disciple of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ?”  He begins in John 6: 66-67 to teach the difference between the terms “sonship” and “discipleship”.   Sonship is a guaranteed calling of every child of God, a passive act on man’s part.  However, children of God may have opportunity to make an active choice to serve as a disciple of our Lord.
