Elder Doug Meeks: Jan 31, 2016

On January 31, 2016, in Uncategorized, by admin

Elder Meeks studies the First Chapter of Luke to teach that, “Every word of scripture has a significance”.  A closer look at these verses reveals the customs of the priest’s office, and the history and timeline of the conception and birth of both John the Baptist and Jesus Christ.

Brother Nathan Meeks: Jan 17, 2016

On January 17, 2016, in Uncategorized, by admin

Brother Nathan’s message this morning is entitled, “A More Excellent Way.”  He begins his study in   I Cor 12:31.  Above all God’s best gifts,  “charity” is the more excellent way.    We will no longer need faith or hope after Christ returns.   In   I Cor 13:8, Paul wrote that, “charity never faileth”.  After the return of Christ, there will exist a perfect love that lasts into eternity.

Brother Nathan Meeks: Jan 10, 2016

On January 10, 2016, in Uncategorized, by admin

“Jonah”  is the subject of Brother Meeks’ message this morning.  The Book of Jonah is a personal narrative, an account of his attempt to flee from the presence of The Lord.  There are many lessons to be learned here; for example, our obedience (or lack thereof) can affect those around us, we should take responsibility for our own actions,  we can pray directly to God with Jesus as our only intercessor, and The Lord is long-suffering.   Also, just as the people of Nineveh were unexpectedly receptive to the teachings of Jonah, we may be surprised by those whom we may encounter that would be receptive to hearing The Gospel.  “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”.  (I Peter 3:15)

Brother Nathan Meeks: Jan 3, 2016

On January 3, 2016, in Uncategorized, by admin

As the first message of the new year, Brother Meeks teaches on “A New Year and the Same Enemy”.   Some of God’s children have mistaken ideas about satan.  Some believe that satan is not real, some underestimate his power, and some are ignorant of his devices.  In I Peter 5:8 we are warned to be vigilant because the devil is as a roaring lion.  Brother Nathan describes some of satan’s many devices: doubt, division, drawing (tempting), and deception.   In 2016 we need to stand against satan’s strategies, devices, and tactics.
