Brother Nathan Meeks: Feb 21, 2016

On February 21, 2016, in Uncategorized, by admin

The subject of Brother Meeks’ message this morning is, “This World Is a Troubling Place.”  Job 5: 7  records, “Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.”  We will ALL suffer tribulation.   Paul described that, “the whole creation groaneth and travaileth”.  (Rom 8:22)  Yet, as God’s children, we can maintain a proper perspective to cope, which sets us apart from others.  We must consider that all the trials and troubles of this world are just temporary.  We must also keep the perspective that not all troubles are catastrophic/a “swelling of the Jordan” event (Jer 12:5)  If you weary yourself on the small things, you will not have strength to endure bigger difficulties.  How can one deal with a “swelling of the Jordan” event?  1) look for higher ground– there is help dwelling above       2) remember Christ our Saviour–The One Who calmed the storm and walked on water.

Elder Philip Conley: Afternoon, Feb 14, 2016

On February 14, 2016, in Uncategorized, by admin

Elder Conley begins his afternoon message in I Thes 5:17, “Pray without ceasing.”  In our own lives, we should strive to emulate Christ.  The question should not be, “What would Jesus do?”, but rather, “What did Jesus do?”, so that we might follow His example.  To live as Christ should be our focus and goal, and our lives should bring glory to Him. Paul wrote, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”  Phil 1:21

Elder Philip Conley: morning, Feb 14, 2016

On February 14, 2016, in Uncategorized, by admin

Elder Conley studies the Biblical account of Jesus walking on the water.  There are 3 Gospel records of this:  Matt 14: 22-33, Mark 6:45-52, and John 6: 15-21.  Brother Philip reviews the obvious 4 miracles recorded in these accounts, but notes that Mark  refers to yet another miracle.  After the feeding of the 5000, twelve baskets of fragments were gathered by the disciples (Matt 14:20). Jesus constrained His disciples straightway onto the ship (Matt 14:22).  Each must have still been carrying a basket of fragments–a reminder of that marvelous miracle.  Yet each was “sore amazed”, “beyond measure” and considered not the miracle of the loaves– for their heart was hardened. (Mark 6: 51 & 52)  Let us all keep in remembrance all that Jesus Christ has done for us.

Brother Nathan Meeks: Feb 7, 2016

On February 7, 2016, in Uncategorized, by admin

Brother Meeks studies the question, “Will ye also go away?”  (John 6:67)  Brother Nathan warns us of eight reasons why God’s children might choose to turn away from Him.   We must choose to be steadfast, unmovable, and determine to follow The LORD.   Do not await a more “convenient season”  such as Felix did (Acts 24:25).  We must become familiar with The Bible and ground ourselves in the doctrines and truth of Jesus Christ.
