“Faith Cometh by Hearing” (Romans 10:17) is the subject of Elder Rhodes’s message this morning. There are many verses in scripture which prove that “faith” is a gift from God. “…God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” (Romans 12:3) “Faith cometh by hearing” does not state that the Gospel is putting faith in you, but rather that it is drawing faith out of you. Faith “cometh” as it is developed, exercised, and grows by hearing the preaching of the Gospel.
As Brother Meeks looks at I Timothy 3:15, he explains that he will probably need two messages to complete his study of this verse because there is a great wealth of information contained therein. Today he begins by studying the term, “The Church of the Living God”. The church is more than just a meeting house, it is a body of believers. In Matthew 16:18 we find that the church belongs to God, and in Ephesians 2:20 Jesus is called the “chief cornerstone” There are good and well-intentioned of God’s people in ANY church, who may simply be mistaken in their beliefs. How can we identify the true church: that church established by Jesus Christ himself and not by man?
