Elder Doug Meeks. “Christ’s Preparations”  John 14: 1-3. Bro. Doug looks to the infamous words of Christ as he stood in the shadow of the cross: “Let not your heart be troubled.” The reason why the disciples could find comfort at this time is because Christ taught the preparations that He was making would be PERSONAL for each of them, PERFECT in that nothing would be left undone, and PERMANENT in that these preparations could never ben undone.

Some of the lessons involve being “P”lanted in the Kingdom, “P”atience in the Kingdom, “P”rotection in the Kingdom, and “P”rogress in the Kingdom.

But, this verse isn’t inapplicable to the older and aged Saints of God. Today, you are as young as you’ll ever be and there’s still much to learn. To those thinking they are past their prime, with age comes wisdom and encouragement: necessary elements in the Church.

There are several practical and spiritual lessons found in this account including the value placed on marriage, the fact that the Lord can sometimes use what others might consider the “wrong pot” to show His power and bring forth His glory, and that when following the Lord, our experience can get better and better; ultimately the best experience is saved for last!
