Elder Cothren brings another message this afternoon, Be ye doers of the word.  He begins in James with James 1:22, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving our own selves.”  The later part of the second book of James also deals with this subject, and ends with, “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” (James 2:26)  Paul wrote, “… and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.” (I Cor 13:2)  There is a difference between saying you have faith and actually demonstrating it.

** Please note that this message was posted in two sections due to technical issues.**

Elder Cothren begins in the first book of Acts as he teaches The Importance of Baptism.   On the day of Pentecost, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38)  It is noteworthy that in I Peter 3:20 is it recorded, “…eight souls were saved by water.” (Not from water, but by water; in other words, baptism.)  Baptism is so important that Peter “commanded” them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. (Acts 10:48).  In Acts 19: 1-7, is the Biblical example of the need for some to be Rebaptized.
